Relationship tip #6

Ask her what she thinks qualifies a woman to be described as a quarrelsome wife.

Proverbs 27:

15 A quarrelsome wife is like
a constant dripping on a rainy day;

16 restraining her is like restraining the wind
or grasping oil with the hand.

  1. Ame says:

    i think it would also be good for her to know how a man defines a quarrelsome woman. i say this b/c my ex husband found me very quarrelsome and defiant, but when i would share what i did with my therapist and now with my new husband, they look at me like i’m crazy. what my ex defined as quarrelsome was case-specific to him. my ex did not like me to ever disagree with him or have an opinion different from his in any way for any reason – if i did, then i was quarrelsome.

    in my new marriage, i have some deeply embedded fears leftover, and when i instinctively react in those fears, my new husband is VERY patient and gracious, affirming that my fear is invalid with him.

    so, i think the question is excellent, and certainly one a man would want to know. however, i think he should set the parameters for what he defines a quarrelsome woman to be because she may have experience that dictates her response. what i would have thought a quarrelsome woman to be several years ago is changing as i’m married to my new husband.
